- Chancy & Bruce Assessment:
Chancy and Bruce Educational Resources, Inc. is a well-established organization that has been dedicated to supporting children's developmental and educational journeys since the early 1980s. Their services are designed to help parents, educators, and schools make informed decisions regarding a child's school readiness and developmental progress. The Chancy and Bruce assessment focuses on evaluating various processing skills, social-emotional maturity, and academic abilities in children from as young as 2.5 years old up to 8th grade. With over 500,000 children assessed, their approach is backed by decades of research and practical experience, providing valuable insights into a child’s readiness for school and beyond. This service is particularly beneficial for parents of young children looking to ensure their child is on the right developmental path as they prepare to enter formal schooling.(https://www.chancyandbruce-ra.com/about-us)
- Gesell Developmental Observation (Yale University):
The Gesell Developmental Observation-Revised (GDO-R) is an assessment tool developed by the Gesell Program in Early Childhood at Yale University. It is designed to help educators, parents, and professionals understand the developmental progress of children between the ages of 2½ to 9 years. The GDO-R assesses key developmental areas, including cognitive, language, motor, and social-emotional responses, providing a comprehensive view of a child's growth relative to typical age-related milestones.
This observation-based assessment is particularly valuable for identifying children’s developmental strengths and potential areas of concern, allowing for informed decisions regarding school readiness and appropriate interventions. By understanding a child's developmental age—an estimate of the child's development in comparison to peers—parents and educators can better tailor educational strategies and support to meet individual needs.
The Gesell Early Screener (GES), a complementary tool, offers a quick snapshot of development for children aged 3 to 6 years, making it an ideal preliminary assessment to determine if further in-depth evaluation with the GDO-R is necessary. Both tools emphasize the importance of observing and understanding children's natural behaviors in familiar settings to gain authentic insights into their developmental stages.
These assessments are backed by decades of research and are designed to promote the well-being of children by ensuring that educational and developmental interventions are aligned with each child's unique growth patterns. - Ages and Stages Questionnaires (ASQ): Parent-completed questionnaires that screen development in multiple domains, offering a quick and effective way to identify potential developmental delays.

- Woodcock-Johnson Tests of Cognitive Abilities:
The Woodcock-Johnson Tests are a comprehensive set of assessments designed to evaluate cognitive abilities, academic achievement, and other areas of learning. Widely recognized for their reliability and validity, these tests provide valuable insights into an individual's strengths and weaknesses across various domains. Whether used for identifying learning disabilities, measuring intellectual capabilities, or guiding educational interventions, the Woodcock-Johnson Tests are an essential tool for educators, psychologists, and researchers in understanding and supporting the diverse needs of students.
- Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT):
It is a group-administered assessment designed to estimate students’ reasoning and problem-solving abilities. Developed by Riverside Insights, the CogAT evaluates cognitive development through three independent batteries:
Verbal Battery: Assesses verbal reasoning skills.
Quantitative Battery: Measures quantitative reasoning abilities.
Nonverbal Battery: Focuses on nonverbal reasoning.
While not an intelligence test, the CogAT provides valuable insights into students’ cognitive abilities, which are closely linked to academic achievement. It is a test that is frequently used, in whole or in part, as an admissions test for gifted programs in the United States.
